of policies aimed at ensuring the well-being of the aging population, the Tamil Nadu government allocated 225 grounds (approximately 5.62 acres) of land for the construction of this residential complex. The project began in the
year 1992, and in 1993, it was officially named Jeevan Bhima Nagar. In 1994, construction work commenced, and by September-October of the same year, the foundations were laid, and the building structures started taking shape. A
deed had been registered on September 15th 1995 by Mr. S. Nagarajan, and Mr. Muthu Vellaiyan had moved into new house.
Jeevan Bhima Nagar success is exemplified by the phrase “Unity is Propitious.” Recognizing the importance of this unity, the Jeevan Bhima Nagar Flat Owners Welfare Association was formed on February 19th, 1995. Mr. K. Subramani was appointed
as the leader, and Mr. R.V. Nagarajan was appointed as the first secretary. Initially, Jeevan Bhima Nagar people faced many challenges. Poor road infrastructure, unreliable water supply, improper waste management, and rainwater accumulating
on the ground. This place was like an isolated island with no sign of reverence. With the absence of trees in the surroundings, the welfare association played a crucial role in promoting greenery and environmental conservation. Since its
inception in 1995, the welfare association has successfully planted 600 saplings in the surrounding area as part of their environmental wellbeing. Today, after 25 years the land have been flourish with greenery and liveliness. During rainy
seasons, floods occur in this area, and a drainage system was implemented under the administration of Ambattur municipality in the year 1998 as a result. Furthermore, cable television services and Postal services were also added in this
region. A telephonic service was proposed by welfare workers in 1999. As part of the welfare association’s efforts to facilitate communication among residents, 550 intercom connections provided by BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited). Parking
for vehicles and walkable paths in the park with lights were implemented in 2007.
The welfare association formed a community council in 2011 to foster community development and ensure residents’ welfare. In 2013, a badminton court was constructed in OSR 5, and a parking area for cars was established in OSR 2. A library
was also built, enhancing the community’s access to educational resources. CCTV surveillance cameras were installed in 2014 to monitor and ensure the safety of the surroundings. Furthermore, to enhance the community experience, speakers
equipped with music systems were installed to provide a pleasant ambiance. In 2016, the community faced significant challenges due to the destructive cyclone Vardah, which severely impacted the greenery and trees in Jeevan Bhima Nagar.
However, with the swift action and support of Ambattur municipality and the diligent efforts of Mr. Alexander, a dedicated team worked efficiently to remove fallen trees and restore the neighborhood. During the devastating Gaja cyclone
that lasted for several days, members of this organization braved through many obstacles and traveled extensively in a truck to reach the affected areas. Twelve members successfully underwent cataract surgery with the support of the Rotary
Club. Provided a platform for playing indoor games such as carrom, chess, and table tennis. A communal kitchen was set up to facilitate collective cooking and foster a sense of unity. Special arrangements were made for women to celebrate
Women’s Day, which took place during the months of February and March, with four weeks of enjoyable activities. The year began with a joyful New Year’s celebration on January 1st, filled with excitement and enthusiasm.
